What began with a 6-year-old’s artwork and a simple idea to turn creativity into support for children in need has grown into a community-wide event with lasting impact. See how it all began.

The Beginning

In 2023, I connected with the Ronald McDonald House through a tour and later joined as a volunteer and Board member. Not long after, my son Jack faced recurring fevers that led to months of tests and frightening conversations about possible diagnoses. Though he is now doing well, we were reminded how quickly a family can find themselves in need of hospital care, often far away from home. Jack’s journey inspired us to create Jack’s Art Show as a way to give back.

In 2024 one kid’s art was able to raise $1,500.

The Kid's Heart Show Begins

In 2025 Jack’s Art Show became the Kid's Heart Show.

This iteration was bigger, broader reaching, and nearly 3x more impactful.

The show featured 6 local artists between the ages of 5 and 10. They collectively donated over 70 pieces of their creativity, which were displayed at an open gallery in the beautiful Bent Oaks Manor. After the gallery, a lively auction was held (by a professional auctioneer!) for the artist's most prized pieces.

The 2025 Kid's Heart Show was able to raise $4,000 - enough to purchase a 'Love a Room' Sponsorship for the RMHC

The Kid's Heart Show Grows

In 2026 the Kid's Heart Show -Presented by Derek Wiley Agency - outgrew it's beautiful starting venue and was held in the nationally renowned Taubman Museum of Art in downtown Roanoke VA.

The show featured 54 local artists who collectively donated over 170 pieces of their creativity.

The 280+ attendees, along with our generous sponsors, were able to raise $6500+ for the RMHC

The organization also grew from The Kid's Heart Show to Kid's Heart & Art - an officialy registered 501c3 non-profit organization that includes the annual Kid's Heart Show as well as the new monthly Kid's Heart Class. This free-to-participate event aims to empower children of all age, skill, and socioeconomic levels to express, learn, and create.
